Boy oh Boy! Get behind on your reading and the digital world will pass you by... especially if you read Darren Kuropatwa's blog. Blink your eyes and he is fast at testing out a new tool for instructional use. I got this off his blog...
Thanks to a pointer from Alan Levine I've just signed up for a new (free) service called Vaestro. It's an audio commenting service. If you've got a microphone, built in or plugged in, you can leave me an audio comment. ;-)
Now you know of course that I had to high tail it over there and create an account. Boy do I see about a thousand uses for this tool! I am always on the look out for anything to help make this Brave New Web 2.0 World not be so dang text-based. John Seely Brown talks about how the medium truly is one that actually honors all the intelligences and not just those who are drawn to text-- which I believe. However, blogs, wikis, etc.. are all text driven! So my hat is off to Matt Ready
Vaestro Founder for creating such a cool new community collaboration tool.
And if you havent already-- go leave me a message! Let's test this thing out and explore the possibilities for our classrooms.
Hi Sheryl,
Thank you so much for enthusiasm about Vaestro. Naturally, I couldn't agree more...the applications for this voice communication tool are enormous.
But you know, it all comes from a very simple personal need. I built Vaestro because I love good conversation and I wanted an easy and convenient tool that would allow me to have that with people all over the world.
It gives me chills to hear the voices of students and teachers in Israel, Taiwan, Canada, China, Germany, Iceland talking over a system I created. It also gives me chills to hear someone appreciate it. So thank you!
Matt Ready
