Amber did it! (my first born) She ran the Alan Stone 5K and placed 4th in her weight class (she competed against 140 lbs and up) and 4th in her age division (she is 24)! We are so incredibly proud of her.
Training for the 5K was part of her personal fitness strategy to get her weight off. So far she has lost 40+ lbs. Well meaning folks kept telling her that at her size she shouldnt run. Guess she showed them! :)
Technology was a huge part of the race. They all wore a digital device that measured their minutes and uploaded instantly to a Web site for results. Very cool.
Sad part is she didnt dream she placed so she went home before prizes were given out.
Run Amber! Run like the wind. Third base! (private joke)
Haha third base! Third base! Also if we're counting, it's 42 lbs. gone so far (isn't that like, a fifth grader or something?). Thanks for taking pictures and coming out at the crack of dawn to watch me run. I love you.

I saw your link at your daughters blog! It is so nice to see a mother supporting her daughter like that! I too am a big runner and always have people saying things like, "Kim you are not built to be runner" My mom is so supportive of me though and tells me to run run run like the wind...I am so thankfully that I found you daughter's blog! She is doing great....she's lucky she has youth on her side. I am large AND over 40....I remember my first 5 K I about freaked out...she looks so calm in her pictures! Looking forward to following your daughters progress...with running and her weight loss...I am on my path to the last 25 pounds...already lost over 100. You are a great MOM!
