I just returned from the SITE conference in San Antonio, Texas. It was my first visit to that conference and I will be back! I was there to help deliver the first formal presentation on the K12Online06 conference given by the conference conveners! We organized the conference presentation via a wiki. The most exciting part of the presentation occurred for me the night before, as I finally got to meet Wesley Fryer.
Wes and I have worked together many times online both in the creation and implementation of K12Online and as guests at each others inservice presentations, but we had never met f2f. I also have Wes to thank for the referral that resulted in my keynoting in New Zealand.
Darren Kuropatwa, who also served as a K12Online convener with Wes and I joined us via Skype. I look forward to the day I get to meet Darren f2f as well!! The presentation was delivered in a panel format. Joining us on the panel was April Chamberlain (K12Online When Night Falls moderator and participant) and Shawn Nutting (K12Online presenter) from Trussville City Schools who shared about how their district used the K12Online content to create a district wide f2f conference, Karen Richardson (K12Online presenter) and Lee Baber via Skype (K12Online presenter).

Only Two Regrets
I only have two regrets as a result of the delivery of our conference presentation.
1. I had spoken with Terry Freedman, one of our K12Online presenters via Skype prior to the conference who expressed a desire for us to incorporate some of his suggestions for improving K12Online into our presentation, however time didnt allow. Terry had some excellent suggestions in terms of copyright and intellectual property we need to consider as we create and improve K12Online 07.
2. That Darren couldnt join us f2f.
So mark your calendars and make plans to join us for K12Online07!
Hi Sheryl, I really enjoyed being part of the Site2007 event. I sat listening to you, Wes and Darren and thought of ways I could improve my own interaction in that exact situation in the future! Perhaps we can put a protocol page on the K12 Wiki suggesting the best way to lay the foundation for communication in a virtual conference. Thanks for including me!
