This weekend, like so many weekends, my two youngest children Noah 20 and Grace 18 were at Va Tech visiting their sweethearts who attend there. Allison, an engineering major and Andrew, a pharmacy major. Grace had applied and was accepted and we were considering her transferring there next year.
This morning 22 people, students and professors, are dead- many killed in their classrooms, and 20 plus are being treated for injuries. I am very grateful that my children and their loved ones are safe, however, I grieve for the families that are going to receive such horrible news today.
UPDATE: The number of dead continues to rise. It is so tough to imagine such horror in such a small little sleepy town like Blacksburg, Va.
Sheryl,
Oh this is just terrible. My heart goes out to all of you in Virginia. I am thankful your family is OK. I was thinking about you so it was so good to read your post about your family. We all grieve for the many families involved. This is such a devasting event. There just are no words to express the deep sadness and horror that things like this continue to happen....

I've been checking in with friends and so far everyone I know that goes there is ok. Definitely praying for that whole campus. Ugh how awful.

Sheryl - This was horrendous news I listened stunned as I was driving home from school this evening. Just to let you know that Virginia is in our hearts and prayers this evening.

So pleased to know that your family is safe but so sad for the families of those for whom the news is going to be devastating.

This is terrible. I thought about you when I heard the news. You are actually the only person I could think of that might have family near VT. I am glad your babies are safe. However, my heart and prayers go out to the families of the victims of this terrible incident. I can’t imagine what they must be feeling right now.

My prayers are with everyone connected with this school. One of our graduates attends there.
